Domain: Maintain Infrastructure with Terraform
This domain (an estimated 12% of the Terraform Associate 004 exam — HashiCorp does not publish weightings) covers the day-2 work of an operator: pulling resources that already exist in a cloud provider under Terraform's control, reading and interrogating the state file from the command line, and turning on verbose logs when a run misbehaves. Questions here are overwhelmingly command-recall and behavior questions: which command does what, what it does not do, which environment variable controls logging, and what the correct sequence of steps is. There is very little conceptual theory — the exam rewards knowing exact syntax (terraform import ADDRESS ID, TF_LOG_PATH), exact defaults (TRACE is the most verbose level), and exact limitations (import does not write configuration for you when you use the CLI command).
